Braidlaw Stud Farm is regarded by our friends as the Hilton for horses!

At Braidlaw Stud Farm we are striving to breed racehorses/sports horses/eventers with fantastic temperaments and quality pedigrees. We aim to use stallions and mares with excellent temperaments so the youngstock inherit a temperament that suits an amateur to produce as well as having the ability a professional demands.

Our picturesque location at the foot of Pentland Hills south of Edinburgh is where we provide the ideal haven for broodmares and their youngsters. Set in 30 acres of secure post and rail and electric fenced paddocks with field shelters it is the perfect place for happy horses to graze! For foaling down we have two 16x12 rubber matted foaling boxes with CCTV, where mares have 24 hour experienced supervision.

Hope was clear in the Brit Nov, but unfortunately I injured my back in the jump off and had to retire. She finished 6th as there were only six clears.
Tel did not jump because of my injury.

First Show of 2012
Kingsbarn Equestrian
Hope was dc in the Brittish Novice and finished 4th, happy days.
Tel was dc in Dekauwe 1Metre Open and finished 2nd and qualified for the Final in August.
Leo still on hols.

Last Show of 2011 at Ingliston House
Hope was third in the British Novice, clear and four in j/o. Huge Xmas tree in centre of ring though sdo really pleased with her.
Tel won the 1Metre Amateur Qualifier, with a dc.
Leo having a holiday.

18th Nov at Aintree
Warm up Tel good double clear but unplaced. Leo had one down.
Qualifier on Friday neither horse went well.
Qualifier on Saturday, Leo jumped double clear and finished thirtyfive out of 115. Tel had one down, but jumped well. Great experience.

Hope was double clear and 3rd in a very strong 90cm Class as this was a warm up for 1metre second round.
Leo was double clear and finished fourth to qualify for British Amateur Championships at Aintree International equestrian centre in November. Tel also qualified in sixth place. another good day at the office.

Tel won 90cm Amateur Qualifier, good double clear, Hope was third with a good double clear, both qualified for next years Second Rounds.
Leo won the 1 Metre Amateur Qualifier, only double clear and Tel was third and both qualified for next years Second Rounds, very pleased with all.

Sunday 28th August EDRC Annual Show at Vogrie
Hope won Novice Class good double clear and was Second in the Open Novice Class, again double clear. LEO won the Small Open, double clear. Tel was again left at home due to lorry problems.
Sept 3rd SNEC BSJA Leo had clear and four in jump off 1.05, Tel had one down im 1.05. Leo had two down in 1.10m, but both jumped well
Sept 1oth & 11th Aberdeen Hope's first stay away show, clear in warm up class, one down in qualifier, but jumped well. Leo one down in qualifier. Second day Hope jumped double clear in 90 cm Amateur Qualifier, very pleased with her.
Leo had one down again. Tel left at home again.
Sept 17th Riding Club National Championships at Lincoln HOPE jumped clear and four, very pleased with her. Her first Championships. Team finished twelve out of twentythree and Hope was second best in team and 43rd individually out of 116.
Leo did not jump through no fault of his.
Sept 25th Lothian Riding Club's Annual Show
Hopw was second in the Open NOVICE, very good double clear. Hope had one down in Small Open and finished fifth equal. Leo had one down in both Opens, finishing fifth in each. Tel was a star winning the big Open and finishing joint first in the Puissance/ Chase me Charlie at 1.40m.

Biggar Agricultural Show 23rd July 2011
Leo Contested Open working hunter and finished 2nd. Very pleased as first proper WH Class.
Hope jumped really well, finishing 3rd in the Intermediate SJ Class and coped well with the Fair, crowds, bands, etc. Also Jumped the Open SJ, going clear and two dn in J/off finishing 7th, very pleased as first water tray and 1.05m in j/off.
Leo was 5th in the Open SJ Class.

22nd may 2011 Lothian riding Club Show.
Data was 4th in the Novice Class, clear and four.
Hope was 5th, clear and four.
Hope was 6th in the Intermediate Class, double clear. very pleased with both as outdoors and new venue for them.

Data was sold the next day to a very nice home in Edinburgh.

Next Show Ingilston Equestrian 12th June
Hope had first fence in 90cm Class but jumped well.
Leo had last fence in Open 1.00m Class, not like him, but that's showjumping.
Tel saved the day when he won the 1.00m Amateur Open, with a good double clear.

19th June - Represented Lothian Riding Club in Area Qualifier at Jedburgh
Thrilled when Hope jumped triple clear in the Novice Team Event and we Qualified with our team mates, whio also jumped triple clear to win the Class. This was only Hope's third time outdoors and very first time on grass.

Leo jumped double clear in the Open Section 1.10m and Qualified for the Individual Section at Lincoln too. Placed first.

Sunday 1oth April - Howe Country Centre Giffordtown, Fife Intro show

Update double clear and 5th out of 28 starters in 80cms class, only did one class as seventeen jumping efforts and baking hot day(indoors ironically). very pleased with him.
Braidlaw star had one down in 80cms, then jumped really well in 90cms Amateur qualifier to finish 5th and Qualified for the Second Round in only her third 90. very pleased with her too.
Quastor and LS Othello contested the 1m National Amateur Qualifier and finished 2nd and 3rd respectively. Really good day at the office!

Back on the Competition Trail after another enforced break for me.
Ingliston House Sunday 3rd April 2011, on BS website as INTRO, but turned out to be unaff, however with a proper course builder and stiff competition.
Braidlaw Star was clear and four faults in j/off of 80 cms, then four faults in 90cms class, good first show back.
Update was four faults in both his classes, but jumped well.
Quastor won the 1m open, only class he attempted.
LS Othello was left at home as rider not back to full fitness and felt four rides too many.

Latest News: Gave Braidlaw Star and Update weekend off. Update was meant to do his first dressage Com petition, but my friend had to cancel at last minute unfortunately.
Took LS Othello and Quastor to Scottish National Equestrian Centre(SNEC) on sunday 20th Feb. LS Othello had last fence in 1.05m Open. Quastor jumped clear and four faults in jump off of Newcomers finished seventh. really pleased with both

Latest Reults: Ingliston 12th Feb 2011 Braidlaw Star jumped double clear again and Qualified for the 85cm Sport Jumping Final at Gleneagles in April 2011. Update also jumped double clear and Qualified for this Final too.
Quastor and Tel had four faults each in their respective qualifiers

6th February 2011 - Kingsbarn Equestrian, Falkirk

Braidlaw Star moved up to 80cm class, jumped double clear and finished 5th

Update moved up to 80cm class, jumped double clear and finished 7th

Braidlaw Star contested her first 90cm class and finished on four faults, very pleased with her.

Update contested his first 90cm class and jumped clear and four in j/off, finished 5th, delighted with him.

Quastor jumped double clear in Im, The Dekauwe Perpetual Trophy qualifier and finished 2nd, already qualified for Final

LS Othello jumped in 1m National Amateur Championship Qualifier, finished 3rd on fastest four faults.

Braidlaw Star jumped double clear in the 70cm class and finished 2nd

Update jumped double clear in the 70cm class and finished 3rd

Braidlaw Star jumped double clear in the 80 cm class , but was unplaced, but jumped well

Update jumped clear and had one dn in jump off, unpaced but again jumped well

Quastor jumped clear and 4 in j/off of The Dekauwe Perpetual Trophy Qualifier and finished 5th to Qualify for The Final later in the Year.

LS Othello jumped double clear in The Dekauwe Perpetual Trophy Qualifier and finished 1st to Qualify for the Final later in the Year.

Quastor jumped double clear in the 1m National Amateur Championship Qualifier and finished 1st to Qualify for The Second Rounds later in the Year.

LS Othello had four faults in this class, unplaced.
